This is Skype:

• Skype is not Open-Source;
• Skype uses a secret protocol and tries hard to resist reverse engineering, it does not want to become interoperable at all;
• Security by obscurity without external audits;
• Skype is hard to control by firewalling or other means to enforce network wide security policies;
• Skype.com is helping undemocratic regimes to censor;
• Skype uses un-NATed customers as call relays without telling them explicitly;
• Skype's linux version lags behind Windows/MacOS versions;
• Skype does not play nicely with modern linux distribution's sould setup (ALSA/pulseaudio).

It just sucks. Don't use it.
